Japanese Bitcoin treasury firm Metaplanet is investing 2,100 BTC and $2.5 million in cash to create Superplanet, a Nasdaq-listed vehicle that will give U.S. investors direct exposure to Bitcoin treasury strategies alongside an operating business.

The transaction involves Super League Enterprise, which will be renamed Superplanet and trade under the ticker SUPA on the Nasdaq exchange. Upon completion, Metaplanet will hold approximately 95.7 percent ownership, effectively turning a dormant gaming company into a Bitcoin treasury play.

Metaplanet's total Bitcoin holdings will remain around 43,000 BTC, making it one of the largest corporate holders of the cryptocurrency globally. The company's strategy mirrors and expands upon the approach pioneered by Michael Saylor's Strategy, which has accumulated Bitcoin as a primary treasury reserve asset.

The creation of a U.S.-listed vehicle is particularly significant because it allows American institutional and retail investors to gain Bitcoin treasury exposure through a regulated securities framework, rather than purchasing cryptocurrency directly or through exchange-traded products. This could attract a different class of investor who prefers the governance and transparency requirements of a publicly traded company.

The deal reflects a broader trend of Bitcoin treasury companies seeking to replicate the Strategy model across different markets and regulatory environments. As traditional financial institutions increasingly accommodate digital assets, companies like Metaplanet are racing to establish footholds before larger competitors enter the space.
