U.S. spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds recorded net inflows of approximately $853.5 million in the first week of August, the strongest weekly figure since mid-April, as institutional investors resumed allocations to the leading cryptocurrency.
BlackRock's IBIT captured roughly 70% to 81% of the weekly inflows, totaling approximately $693 million, cementing its dominance as the preferred vehicle for institutional Bitcoin exposure. Fidelity's FBTC also contributed meaningful flows, though at a smaller scale.
The five-day inflow streak, running from August 3 to August 7, represented a sharp rebound after several weeks of mixed or negative flows. Daily figures peaked on August 5 with $244.4 million in net additions, according to data from Farside Investors.
The resurgence in institutional interest coincided with Bitcoin breaking above $65,000, creating positive momentum that attracted both pre-planned allocations and tactical repositioning. Analysts note that the inflows appeared driven by longer-term strategic mandates rather than short-term trading.
Cumulative lifetime net inflows for Bitcoin ETFs have now exceeded $52 billion, representing a substantial commitment from traditional finance to cryptocurrency as an investable asset class. The early-August surge suggests institutional confidence remains intact despite broader market volatility.
However, flows turned mixed in subsequent sessions, with August 10 seeing approximately $144.7 million in outflows. The streak's interruption highlights the ongoing uncertainty surrounding Federal Reserve policy and macroeconomic conditions that continue to influence crypto asset flows.
